Our Journey

​1990s – Humble Beginnings

  • Returned from travel with just $1,000 in the bank.

  • Wrote the first business plan at the kitchen table with my late brother.

  • Stored products behind the couch and used a shoebox for accounts.

  • Delivered every order personally (sometimes by borrowed Bambina car!).

  • Worked part-time in a local bar to pay the rent.

​2000s – Building Relationships

  • Drew on international experience with The Body Shop (London) and L’Oréal (NZ).

  • Grew client by client through genuine care, service, and listening first.

  • Focused on long-term partnerships rather than quick sales.​

​​​​2010s – Establishing Aly Maclean Apparel

  • Evolved from a kitchen-table business to a trusted national provider.

  • Expanded into supplying corporate uniforms across industries.

  • Built a reputation for professionalism, respect, and trusted service.​

​​​Today – Setting the Standard

  • Over 30 years of experience in uniforms and client service.

  • One of the few NZ providers offering custom manufacturing.

  • Access to an extensive corporate uniform range.

  • Continuing to set the standard by embodying excellence, inspiring confidence, and upholding reputation.

Aly

Aly sets the standard in professional uniforms, leading the industry with a focus on precise choices, functional elegance, and cohesive outfits. Founded in 1997, Aly has been delivering excellence in New Zealand for almost 30 years, building a reputation for trusted service and premium quality,  that goes beyond clothing.

Andrea

With a career that began as an apprentice clothing cutter, I went on to qualify fully and gain experience across almost every aspect of the clothing trade. Over time I realised I really enjoyed working directly with customers, which led me to my current role in Customer Service at Aly Maclean Apparel, where I’ve proudly worked for nearly eight years. I love being part of such a friendly and supportive team. My goal is always to ensure our clients feel heard and supported, using my industry knowledge to help streamline their ordering process. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that the work I do helps our customers achieve the results they’re looking for.

Janine

I joined Aly Maclean Apparel in February 2022 and look after the financial side of the business. I’m a qualified Chartered Accountant and previously worked in accountancy for many years before becoming part of Aly’s team. It’s a pleasure working in a small, friendly, and fun team environment. I also enjoy getting to know our customers and being part of such a welcoming workplace in a great location.
